Accessibility Statement for https://cranfordparishcouncil.com/
This statement was prepared on 23rd December and will be reviewed by 30th August 2021.
It applies to all pages on the Cranford Parish website
This website was last tested on 18th September 2020 by Claire Tilley- Parish Clerk of Cranford Parish Council (see link to Test Report for full findings)
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.
Accessible Content-What works well-
- A user is able to magnify the screen up to 250% without having to scroll across a line
- Hyperlinks are mainly meaningful
- Text to Speech and Read Aloud can be used
- Most relevant documentation has to be downloaded as a Word Document or PDF. This means the user can adapt where necessary.
- Users can download their own Plug-ins- Google ‘High Contrast’ ‘Text-to-Speech’
- High contrast plug in works well generall
Non accessible content- What doesn’t work so well-
- Keyboard navigation only works to scroll down a page. A mouse is needed for everything else items
- Navigation by headings does not work
- H2 and H3 tags are irrelevant
- Limited Alt text- although images form a very small part of the information available
- Menu subheadings are poor contrast
If users find that they are unable to access certain areas of the website,or find that relevant documents are not accessible (those in active use after September 2019) they may contact the Parish Clerk via telephone, email or post to discuss their requirements. An initial response will be given with 7 working days.
Reporting accessibility problems
If a user finds that there is an accessibility problem, not previously highlighted- please contact the Parish Clerk in the first instance. This can be via telephone, email or post. The problem will be looked into within 7 working days and a response provided as to the feasibility of remedying the issue.

Non-compliance with accessibility regulations
With regards to the items listed under non-accessible content- the Parish Clerk will try to change the heading navigation and change the H2 and H3 tags, and remove irrelevant Alt tags by February 2021
Currently the Parish Clerk has minimal website creation knowledge. The above remediations will be attempted,
but it may be that
- Web development training is required – costly and currently not within the Clerks contract or feasible on the current time allocations
- Specialist web designers services are required- cost implications
- Completely new web provider and web site are needed.
All of these solutions currently represents a disproportionate burden to this small Parish Council.
